FOREO recommends it for all skin types and especially dry, dehydrated and aging skin, and the allantoin, betaine and panthenol are there to soften skin and soothe very dry, easily irritated skin. It is also described as helping fade the look of scars. The mask does contain fragrance, so patch test if you are sensitive to scented products, and avoid using it on broken skin.

Start with clean, dry skin. Open the sachet, fix the mask onto your UFO with the attachment ring, and select the Manuka Honey routine on the device or in the FOREO app. Glide the UFO slowly over your face in circular motions until the session finishes. Gently pat the remaining essence into your skin or wipe off excess with a cotton pad, then apply your usual moisturizer. It works morning or night.

A pack contains 6 masks of 6g each, one per session, so you get six sessions. Used two or three times a week, a box lasts a few weeks. FOREO says skin feels soft, smooth and supple in about 2 minutes, so the hydration is immediate. Improvements in elasticity, fine lines and the look of scars are gradual, so give it several weeks of consistent use before deciding how well it works for you.

Use it on cleansed skin and follow with serum and moisturizer to seal in the nourishment. It sits nicely with a hydrating serum and a barrier supporting night cream for dry skin, and with sunscreen in the morning. Because it is soothing rather than exfoliating, it is a good pick for the night after you use a stronger active elsewhere in the week. Keep harsh scrubs away from the same session.

Be careful rather than casual. The formula is gentle and soothing, but the UFO adds warmth and massage, so do not run it directly over freshly applied retinol or acids, and never on broken, sunburnt or irritated skin. After a peel, microneedling or laser, wait for your provider's go-ahead before using any device on your face. If your skin is reactive, patch test first and introduce one product at a time.
